2004 was the last time we heard from M. Derrick, working under the name Koda. Officially speaking of course. A lush guitar-based ambient album called "Movements" which had always been a pivotal point

for the label and for Derrick as well. Well received at the time, ending up in many years end best-of ambient lists. For years that followed, as that is the natural course of ambient that resonates, finding the audience and ears in a slow, progressive and appreciative way.

Years have passed, actually greater than 20 since that release. There have been starts and stops, pieces that have been mended, albums and/or collections of tracks that were abandoned or scrapped altogether. The remaining pieces eventually picked up and inspired "The Inability to Move".

Guitar as an ambient base remains, perhaps stripped back even more than the layers evident on "Movements" to reveal something more intimate - touching on just intonation, arranging notes alongside moments of silence and contemplation. Derrick reveals that he has always had a fascination with a tuning orchestra, and he asserts that the recordings sound nothing like that. The result speaks for itself though, and as we hear the tuning of this string section - letting the sound of a single guitar, building delicate layers until something is revealed.

This 2xLP color variant is pressed by Gotta Groove in Cleveland and hand poured by the Wax Mage outfit. Wax Mage does exclusive color variants in a strictly limited edition of no greater than 25. There are 25 of “The Inability to Move” issued, with 15 being offered for sale.

The LPs are housed in a Stoughton Printing tip-on gatefold with printed color inner sleeves. The entire edition is 525 copies, 25 of which are the Wax Mage edition, 100 copies on translucent blue and 400 copies on brilliant black. The 500 copies pressed on blue and black vinyl are individually numbered.
